Governor Headed to Las Cruces to Break Ground on Reproductive Health Clinic
A New Era for Women's Healthcare in Southern New Mexico
Las Cruces, New Mexico
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham will travel to Las Cruces on Wednesday, March 15, to break ground on a new reproductive health clinic. The clinic, which is expected to open in early 2024, will provide a wide range of services, including abortion care, contraception, and prenatal care. The new clinic is a major step forward for women's healthcare in Southern New Mexico. Currently, there is only one abortion provider in the entire region, and it is often difficult for women to access reproductive healthcare services. The new clinic will help to fill this gap and ensure that women in Southern New Mexico have access to the care they need. The clinic is being funded by a $6 million grant from the state of New Mexico. The grant will cover the cost of construction, equipment, and staffing. The clinic will be operated by Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, a non-profit organization that provides reproductive healthcare services throughout the Rocky Mountain region. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the site of the new clinic, which is located at 1001 S. Main St. in Las Cruces. The ceremony will begin at 10:00 AM and will be open to the public. Some key points to note about the new clinic:
