50 Cent BMF Documentary
50 Cent Gives Complex Look At The BMF Drug Empire
50 Cent is surely a man of many talents and now he can add the art of storytelling to his resume. His newest documentary gives us an inside look at one of the largest drug empires in recent history. The BMF drug empire spanned from Detroit to LA and supplied drugs to celebrities and even financed terrorist attacks. Fifty helps narrate the story of the brothers who started and ran the empire.
The six-part documentary called BMF (Black Mafia Family) explores the intricate details of the trafficking syndicate started by Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory.
50 Cent is no stranger to the drug game as he raps about it in many of his hit songs. He says he wants to "let the world know how it really went down" regarding the drug ring. The series is a collaboration with the Flenory family, giving an in-depth account of the brothers' experiences.
50 Cent Keeps It Real
The documentary features interviews and commentary from the Flenory brothers, their associates, law enforcement, and hip-hop artists. 50 Cent said he was cautious in the beginning about working on the project because he had to ensure that the story would be told accurately and respectfully.
While the project is a documentary, it has elements of fictional storytelling. The documentary showcases 50 Cent working on the soundtrack and visiting the sets of scenes being filmed for the fictionalized version of the story. 50 Cent says the scripted version of the story is not meant to glorify the life of the drug kingpins. The story is meant to show the consequences that those involved faced.
The series premiered on Starz featuring some familiar faces like Snoop Dogg, La La Anthony, and Kash Doll. If you are a true 50 Cent fan, you don’t want to miss this!
