Ontario Place to undergo major redevelopment

Government selects three partners to revitalize waterfront destination

Trillium Park, Toronto's only waterpark, and live music and arts venues to remain open

The Ontario government has selected three private sector partners to help transform Ontario Place into a "world-class waterfront destination." The three partners are:

  • Live Nation Entertainment, a global leader in live entertainment
  • Mirvish Productions, one of Canada's leading theatre producers
  • Therme Group, a European leader in wellness and spa experiences

The partners will work with the government to develop and operate a mix of cultural, entertainment, and recreational attractions at Ontario Place. The plans include:

  • A new live music venue with a capacity of up to 20,000 people
  • A new theatre with a capacity of up to 2,000 people
  • A new spa and wellness center
  • A new waterpark
  • A new public park with green space and waterfront access

The redevelopment of Ontario Place is expected to cost between $1 billion and $1.5 billion. The government has committed to providing up to $500 million in funding for the project.

The redevelopment of Ontario Place is expected to be completed in phases over the next several years. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by 2024.
