Section 8 Waiting Lottery
The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) operates a city-wide Section 8 waiting list. To apply for this program, you or someone you know must be referred by a service provider.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for Section 8, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have a low income
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
- Not own a home
How to Apply
To apply for the Section 8 waiting lottery, you can mail or fax a completed application to HACLA. The application form can be downloaded from the HACLA website. You can also apply in person at one of HACLA's offices.
Rent-Subsidized Apartments
HACLA also manages 40 rent-subsidized apartments that do not provide direct rental assistance. These apartments remain affordable to low-income families and individuals.
